Appeal for contribution to Dhoolla Ratnam Memorial Fund

Dhoolla Ratnam, member of Srungavruksham Gram Panchayat, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, was burnt to death along with her grandson Veerababu on 15 July 2007 by those who are opposed to women’s power, grassroots democracy and trans-parency in panchayati raj. As a tribute to her, the Association of Local Governance of India (ALGI) has planned to erect her statue near Srungavruksham panchayat office and produce a documentary film on her life. The estimated cost is Rs. six lakh. A five-member committee under the chairpersonship of Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy, former member of Parliament, has been formed to accomplish the task.

The committee has opened an SB account (No. 053301100039348) with the Andhra Bank, Saifabad branch (Swift code: ANDBINBB), Hyderabad in the name of ‘Dhoolla Ratnam Memorial Fund’. Please contribute generously to this fund. You may send your contribution directly to this bank account with an intimation to Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy or George Mathew (gemathew@yahoo.co.in) or by cheque/demand draft favouring ‘Dhoolla Ratnam Memorial Fund’ and payable at Hyderabad, to Solipeta Ramachandra Reddy, Former MP, 272/A, MLA Colony, Road No.12, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
