IBSA- LGF
The second meeting of India Brazil South Africa- Local Governance Forum (IBSA- LGF) is taking place in Curitiba and Porto Alegre, Brazil from March 13- 16, 2010. The meeting in Curitiba will be held on the sidelines of the International Conference of Initiative Cities (IC- IC 2010).
The mayors, councilors, panchyat members, experts and civil society representatives of India, Brazil and South Africa will discuss among others, the state of local governance system in IBSA countries, poverty reduction, best practices in local government and strategies for the future.
The first IBSA- LGF meeting was organized by Institute of Social Sciences in January 2008 in Delhi with the support of Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.
IBSA- LGF is a civil society initiative to promote greater exchange of ideas and best practices in the field of local governance among IBSA countries. It is intended to compliment the work of IBSA Dialogue Forum. It also seeks to promote alternative regionalism.
